The toughest probe in the range
SONO MIX is built for the inside of a working mixer: a probe head in steel with a solid carbide steel insert and a rectangular special ceramic window, installed in the base plate.
Intensive, planetary and twin-shaft mixers all put material under load directly against the sensor face, continuously. The carbide insert is what makes that survivable.
Measuring concrete rather than aggregate
A mixer probe is a different instrument in purpose even though the technology is the same. Upstream sensors measure an input so the batching system can predict a result. SONO MIX measures the result itself, during the cycle.
The measurement is specified as reliable for all standard concretes regardless of their consistency — which is what the application demands, because the same mixer runs a stiff precast mix and a flowing ready-mix load on the same day and the sensor cannot care which.
It catches what nothing upstream can see: an uninstrumented aggregate stream, a water valve not seating, admixture dosing drift. All of that shows up in the mixer and nowhere else.

Service economics
The probe head is replaceable, and the catalogue is explicit that this is a cost-efficiency decision rather than a convenience one. Instrumenting a mixer only makes sense if the wear part is a consumable.
Because measuring accuracy does not change as the head wears and wear does not require recalibration, heads are changed on condition. You are not watching for drift to tell you it is time.
SONO VIEW handles parameterization and calibration at the machine, visualizing up to 16 probes, so a mixer sensor does not need a laptop on the platform every time something changes.
How the SONO MIX connects to your plant
SONO probes connect to the PLC through an analog interface at 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA or 0–10 V, as with any other moisture probe. Fifteen typical product calibrations — aggregates, sand, gravel, crushed stones — ship as standard.
For parameterization and initial commissioning, SONO VIEW gives you a wired display for up to 16 probes, or the probe can be configured wirelessly. Either route can select, change or create calibrations and display the probe's measurements directly. Over long cable runs the IMP bus is the robust option and requires a display unit; a serial connection over RS 485 is also feasible.
